Buying the Field
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Matt. 13:44
I’ve been giving much thought to “value” here lately. I’ve learned that the direction of your life will always be directed by what we currently value.
The core of value is honor. And the truth is that we become the very thing that we honor. Recognizing worth and value in something or someone is noble but paying the price to attain it is honorable.
In the parable above, it is obvious that a man was searching for a treasure. His desire was proven by his pursuit. But unfortunately, desire alone will not get the job done. His desire caused him to find the treasure, but finding the treasure is only half the battle. Locating is one thing, obtaining is another.
In order to secure his find, he developed a strategy for obtaining it. More than likely, as it is today, properties have mineral and content rights. He found the treasure in someone else’s property. So, in order to legally possess the contents, he had to possess the container. He SOLD ALL HE HAD in order to buy the field in which the treasure was.
His move was bold and extreme! And that’s how we should value the purpose of God’s kingdom in our lives! We must be willing to BUY THE FIELD. “Buying the field” is not just recognizing worth, it’s paying any price in order to possess it.
Jesus has called us to “buy the field.” It happened to the Rich Young Ruler (Matt. 19:16-22). The young man was challenged by Jesus to pay a large price for something even larger! He failed to do so, for he honored himself more than what Jesus was offering. Will we do the same?
Are we willing to “buy the field?” Are we wiling to give all we have in order to obtain all God has for us?
Well Pastor we need to give up what we have if we want to buy the field that the Lord gives us. we know that if you want to get into the kingdom we need to give up on things you like.
God has called Impact Church to obtain this region for His Kingdom, and it is up to up to start paying the price. We must give up of our time, treasure and talent to do all that is needed to accomplish what God has for us.
We must give back ten percent of what we sow to the lord. We are at lake stevens to impact this region and the commuity.
What we currently value will guide us in our lives. The man of the parable had guts, I have to be like him willing to give up everything to pursue the will of God. I need to start making more investments in the gold that I found, I have to buy the field also and use everything I have from money to time to reach my purpose and full potential. Thank you pastor.
Paying the price. We want to buy that field, but the will still needs to be worked on. It’s one of those “do” or “don’t” moments. Hot or cold. We have to let God use us and part of that is paying the price.
