Revival is…

This week I began reading the book, I am Your Sign, by Sean Smith.  Sean is a young revivalist that I had the privilege of meeting.  We are working on Sean coming to Impact Church to deposit to our people and our region what God is doing through him.  Can’t wait!

Below are some of his definitions of what REVIVAL is.  Although it’s difficult to nail down an accurate definition of revival, Sean seems to have a good concept of it.  As I keep moving along in my journey with Christ and ministry, I’m getting hungrier for true revival.  I need Him more than ever!

• Revival is returning to God’s original intention for normal Christianity.
• Revival is the manifest power of God lifting humanity to the proper standard of supreme life and righteousness.
• Revival is when God reveals His mind to us.
• Revival is a revolt against an anemic, watered-down Christianity.
• Revival is an unfiltered and unadulterated manifestation of God.
• Revival is bringing to completion everything promised in the divine purpose of God, in order for His people to see restoration.
• Revival is the passion for daily crucifixion of the self-life.
• Revival is getting on your knees and pouring your heart for others.
• Revival is operating from the vantage point of heavenly places to break darkness off a generation.
• Revival is not a series of meeting men call together; man is not revival’s ultimate scheduler or promoter.
• Revival is not hype or human-generated programs.
• Revival is the ultimate mirroring and accurate portrayal of the heart of the Father.
• Revival is a triumph of light over darkness.
