Learning to Live in Dark Seasons

Dark times are inevitable. Our life is a journey and to walk that journey requires time. And within that time span there are seasons – all types of seasons. Some of those seasons are dark seasons. And in these dark seasons, it requires great effort to see any light or hope. Just obtaining faith is hard enough…I know because I’ve been through a few of these seasons in my last 24 years as a Christian.

So, how do we get through dark seasons? I’m learning to leverage all the good that comes in a season of light. A season of light is a season when everything is clear – God’s voice, the vision He gives to us and the direction we take.

Leveraging a season of light is a discipline. It’s remembering all that God teaches us. It’s building a storehouse of hope. It’s continually training and renewing our minds to think as heaven does. It’s extracting all that a season of light has in order to sustain us during dark times. Wise people do this with food and supplies in the natural and it’s wise people who can do this in the spiritual.

I love what Raymond Edman, one of Billy Graham’s mentors, once said, “Never doubt in the dark what God told you in the light.” So, extract all you can during your season of light, and you’ll see that your dark season won’t be as dark as it may appear.
