What Fuels Your Life?

We really do become the very thing we consume. In the same manner that “we are what we eat,” we become the very thing that we watch, read, hear and do. We’ll always take on the characteristics of all things we expend.   The fuel of your life determines the placement, condition and performance of your life. Therefore, by understanding this principle, we can keep in check our direction in God’s plan and purpose for our lives.

After Jesus took an unpopular detour through Samaria and revolutionized the life of the woman at the well, His disciples, who went to buy food, urged him to eat something. And Jesus’ response was exceptional. He said, “ I have food to eat that no one knows about. My food is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish His work.”

I believe Jesus gave us a hint regarding our life’s diet. When we learn to manage, direct and administer the things we watch, read, listen to and do, it’ll appropriately focus, direct and fuel God’s purpose and will for our lives. What fueled Jesus was to do the will of the Father. And everything else that He allowed in His life’s diet, was used as fuel to engage that will. To an extent, He became the very thing he ate (consumed, watched, read, listened to, etc.)

What’s your life’s diet? What fuel’s your life? What do you spend time, watching, reading, listening and doing? When you identify your fuel, you’ll recognize the current condition of God’s purpose for your life.

Our focus is everything! God knew most of us would have spiritual ADD! that is why the Hebrews had the Shema! Would that we could learn that discipline in our lives as Christians. Thanks Manny. I would love to sit and have some Cuban Coffee with you and Vicky and talk about our Father together!

In our life we try to maintain a “healthy Diet” , i personally try to max what am i listening to, what am i reading, where am i putting my free time and the sum of all that should result in building a stronger and healthier relationship with our God.

Great article Pastor Manny. In today’s super busy world we are constantly bombarded by an incredible amount of information that glorifies the culture we live in and denies godliness in a myriad of ways. It then becomes imperative that we feed our eyes, ears, and mind, with Godly literature, and feed our souls the Word daily, and in solitude. The challenge becomes turning off all the noise that permeates our minds, and learning to listen for the soft, quiet voice of God. Do we become what we feed on, that question I cannot answer, but I do know from experience that what we feed on, we eventually act out on, both good and bad.
