Exceptions to the Rule Write Great Books!

I’m really being challenged by Steven Furtick’s new book, Sun Stand Still.  It’s an incredible message taken from the book of Joshua, when Joshua asked the Lord to stop the sun from going down so he may finish decimating the enemies of Israel. (Joshua 10:11-14)

In this book, Steven Furtick uses what God has accomplished in his church (Elevation Church) as the groundwork to his thesis.   I’ll tell you, to me, as much as it’s been inspiring it’s also been depressing! As a pastor in Dade County, one of the most difficult places to start a church, seeing what God has done in Charlotte, NC is almost unfathomable.  The more I read the book, the more I have to thank God for what he has done at Elevation church and focus in prayer believing that God can do something similar in Miami.

I understand that what God is doing at Elevation Church is the exception to the rule. And I know that “exceptions to the rule” write good books; but my heart has never been so charged with faith – knowing that God will do great things in our midst.  Why not believe God to be an exception to the rule! It’s time that we pray audacious prayers and stand in faith that God will come through and perform the very things we are asking of Him.

Anxious to read your thoughts,

Pastor Manny

Pastor, I often find myself asking who writes the rules anyway? The bible is full of “exceptions” I don’t recall there ever being a story that I haven’t had to ponder how on earth it happened. You said it, faith. Like as a child I will believe, I’ve seen a lot of horrible things… But I’ve seen much more good in the world and I know He is Lord of all. And for that I live. I don’t know how or when, but I know He is faithful. And He will.

God is the ultimate exception to the rule-there is NOTHING impossible for Him, all we need to do is pray and believe!

There is no reason that we shouldn’t believe God for these things that seem so impossible to the natural person. We must not relent in our prayers for God will make us the exception to the rule in this region!

In TRUTH, we are above the law…above the laws of physics, above the laws of matter, above the laws of Moses. A diplomatic immunity of sorts, because we represent Jesus Christ. Truth is received through a radical relationship with the Trinity of God. It’s really difficult to mentally grasp the concept, but as a mutual relationship develops understanding continuously increases. The old veils are removed and new light is perceived.

This new light simplifies life, and illuminates the Life abundant we have in Christ. There’s a mental struggle while the shedding occurs – this is because doubt is still given entrance. However, doubt is unsustainable in the presence of God, where Truth abounds.

Pastor, do not get discouraged and continue to walk in Faith. The road may seem and feel long but God will use Impact Church in South Florida to be a church of “exceptions to the rules”.

God is going to do great things through impact church. Their is power in prayer. Sometimes we have to be patient and wait on God. We have to fight the good fight of faith and continue to pray and when it is time God will prevail. He always does. He will stop the sun in Miami for us and turn the hearts of the people to him and it all will begin with prayer.
