WHEN You Pray…

A Scottish theologian by the name of P.T. Forsyth said something that has forever taken me to a place of conviction and order. He said, “The greatest sin is prayerlessness.” And in all reality all that is wrong in our lives, by doing or not doing, can be traced back to the behavior of “prayerlessness.”

Prayer was such a normal part of the Jewish culture that when Jesus taught about it He came from an assumption that Jews prayed…and they did.  Prayer was engraved in the Hebrew culture.  It was a nation that was birthed because of prayer.  Abraham was not just a man of faith; he was a man of prayer.  As a matter of fact, he was a man of faith because he was a man of prayer.

When Jesus was teaching on prayer and gave to us the outline to pray which we call the “Lord’s Prayer” or the “our Father, ”He said this… …“When you pray, say: Our father which art in heaven….” (Luke 11:2)  He didn’t say “if” you pray; He said “WHEN” you pray.  Prayer has never been an option.  To think it so is not just asinine but lethal to our own Christian experience.  As believers, we have various responsibilities.  But there is one responsibility, if not observed, all others are become obsolete – that is PRAYER.

Keep on Praying… Don’t stop!

Prayer is not an option, I understand that, but our flesh detest praying, I think is a pride issue in our nature that we don’t want any help.

As Christians prayer in definitely not an option. It needs to be a part of us as much as breathing. We don’t stop breathing because we’re tired or too busy- so why would we stop praying? Prayer is essential in our lives as believers.

I don’t ever want to find myself justifying why I could not pray. As stated, above prayer should ever be an option on whether or not it could be done. This is hard to do but not impossible to achieve. Our spirits are willing and that willingness must overtake the unwilling flesh on a daily basis.

Prayer is truly not only a responsibility but it determines why we are going through what we are going through. When I do an audit of my life I see clearly the results of my prayer life. I must daily remind myself that it is my responsibility to pray. I must be obedient.

It good when we pray because we are talking to God so we can tell him that we are ready fot the next step for a better future.

May God forgive us for not praying like we should. I pray that a conviction overtakes us personally and corporately to pray. Through prayer we will see the lost saved like never before.
