Opportunity or Obligation
We had an incredible meeting with my leaders last night. I’m so encouraged over what the Lord is doing through them. I believe this year will be one for the record books – that is, in a positive way. 🙂
Although last night I covered four different topics, allow me to expound on the last one. I wrote two words on the dry-erase board – Opportunity and Obligation. And then I asked the team this question… “How do you view and interpret your faith, your purpose, your life and your relationship in Christ; is it an opportunity or an obligation?
The answers were quite interesting. Some answered immediately from their own perception of the two words and others tried to answer in a way by thinking it was “loaded question” – sneaky guys!
What about you? Which do you think it is? And no, it’s not both. The answer to this question can reveal much about your view and involvement in the kingdom of God.
Go ahead give it a shot… Place your comment.
Blog entry #3 – Happy New Year!
God does give us the opportunity to become part of His Kingdom by giving us the choice to come to Christ. But, once we’ve made that choice, as Christians we are now obligated to fulfill the purpose He’s placed us here for.
Well is one is good Pastor I think you have to be obligated to do something if you want to have a opportunity to get to the kingdom of God. If you are not obligated to do something it will never happen .
I feel it is my obligation. I am morally bound to follow GOD’S way in every
thing I do. Out of HIS love, he sent JESUS to suffer and die for me so I
have a purpose (HE) gave me unconditional love, HIS mercy and HIS
grace. Without HIM , there is no eternal life for me!
Pastor, it was a very good question and I for one was not to sure how to answer it. I was able to dwell on it after Leadership and feel that one leads to the other. I believe that God gave me an opportunity when He chose me to be part of His Kingdom. What a privilege. Since that moment it has been my obligation to fulfill the plan He has for me. I must obey his commandments and not only love people but show them God. If my purpose is not accomplished it is my responsibility not God’s. Good blog.
To me it’s a opportunity because without him we are nothing in the eyes of God.
You know my answer Pastor, obligation. It is my biggest fear to not fullfill Gods calling on my life, just because I didnt think it was that important. I dont want a choice. God is God, and I as a christian, and his daughter am obligated to serve Him, its a priviledge!
Well after much deliberation. Being a Christian is an obligation. Once we accept Christ into our lives we begin the roller coast ride and we just lean on God and sometimes we mess up big time, but in the end the goal is to achieve the purpose and plan that God has placed in our life. God chose us to complete his will.
I think is an opportunity to accept Christ and become children of God by us accepting Him (John 1:12). And serving God, it sounds so cool to say it “I’m serving God”, imaging how cool would it be to serve someone famous like for example a president, or a billionaire, or a superstar, or a superstar athlete. And the best part will be that this famous person is not only hiring you to do something and that’s it, but this person actually wants to spend time with you. It’s more than an opportunity is a privilege. God who is creator of everything wants to be my friend and be with me at all times, thats the opportunity of a life time!
its simple for me , the best opprutunity i have EVER had was to become a child of GOD and a member of MHC you all are my family and thats the opprutunity i was given . , and in turn i feel its my obligation to get this message out ,by any means possible.
When this question was first presented I had to think twice. The common answer would have been oppurtunity but that didnt seem right to me. When it was explained, that confrimed what I was thinking which was obligation. The life I live is an obligation.
