I Love My Prayer Team!

“I can literally sense the power of prayer working on my behalf.”  This is what I said to an individual last week regarding our prayer team.

I felt it necessary to recruit about twenty-five people in the beginning of the year to form a prayer team.  These people are people who I know, in a drop of a hat, would stop what they’re doing to pray.  These are people who have a passion for God’s presence and a longing to see the Kingdom of God manifested in our region.  These folks are the embodiment of faithfulness.  Their heartbeat is to see and experience the vision of our church become a weekly reality.

I’m currently meeting with my prayer team on a regular basis.  It’s essential that they know where the Lord is leading the church and what He’s saying to me.  They, in turn, pray for me and for our church daily.  They pray over every area of ministry.  There’s been a major difference since January!

I remember when I first came to the Lord about 26 years ago.  My church then was very “missionary minded.”  There were many Sundays when missionaries, who were on furlough, would visit our church to give a report of their ministry and to raise financial support.   I noticed something very interesting… The younger ones would really focus on the “ask” for money.  But the older ones spent more time inspiring the congregation to pray for them daily.  After they accomplished that, they humbly asked for financial support.

I’m finally beginning to realize why the older missionaries they did that.  They realized a couple of things… 1.  Constant prayer for them would cause God’s hand to work on their behalf.  They realized God’s favor couldn’t be bought.  2.  They realized that prayer has a way of connecting ones heart to the heart of whom you’re praying for.  So, if they could get you to constantly pray for them, they knew, in faith, that financial support would always follow.

These older missionaries knew the power of prayer!  I feel that I’m just begging to learn it!

I love my prayer team!

I am honor and privilege to be part of the Prayer Team. It is great when we can come together in prayer lifting up our Church, Pastors, Leaders and all members and ones connected to Impact Church. I love the team also.
