Relinquishment – Our Friend.
Yesterday, during our Family Night Bible study, I shared some thoughts concerning relinquishment. It’s not a popular subject, but quite necessary to say the least. Relinquishment, like most things that are requisite and also agonizing, don’t make the top 100 list of things to ponder and talk about.
Relinquishment is releasing, yielding, resigning, surrendering, waiving, and the giving up off something completely. No, it’s not a popular subject indeed. In the age of prosperity and multiplication, relinquishment is an ignored concept in Christianity.
Unfortunately, God’s presence, God’s calling and God’s purpose will never be realized outside of relinquishment. And if truth were known, without proper relinquishment, we will never get any closer to God. His presence will only be a mirage in our own minds.
Let’s just ponder for a moment… What are the things God’s been telling you to give up? What is it that is separating you from totally entering into His presence and fulfilling the call He has on your life? Maybe we need to consider the subject of relinquishment a bit more. Moses had to learn it during His 40 year process of preparation before he faced the Pharaoh of Egypt.
More on this tomorrow…
Blog entry #34 – Giving it up!
If we want to get into his presences we need to give up things that take us from the Lord. we just need to keep on moving and don’t let anybody take you way from your promise.
Thank you for your teaching. I never saw relinquishment that way. Praying that God continues to reveal to me the things that I must let go off.
Thank you pastor for these points that you have gave to us.
Relinquishment is a process that is difficult but necessary. God needs to be in your life, He will take things out so that the void that’s left can be filled with his precence. We need to relinquish to be what He wants us to be.
I got to give up time that I want for myself. So that I can spend it with people that need someone to love them, encourage them and be with them when they need them. Relinquishment is vital.
I think Pastor Johnny in his sermon on Feb.6th said it all.
Worldliness is anything that decreases our hunger gor God.
Separate time to be in His presence. If we value Him We will
take time to be in Him and for him.
