ROOT LEVEL
My blogging has been a bit sporadic lately. It appears that the process of order in my life has had its taxing moments. This process has a way about it that causes us to have to rethink and restructure practices, schedules and routines.
I’m learning that the process of order in my life has to begin at root level. But the only problem with that is that in order to bring about proper change, I have to break ground all over again; pull up what’s been planted and reseed all over again. I’ve come to realize that the conviction I’ve received from the Lord, when asked to make changes, only prompted me to make minor cosmetic changes. Unfortunately, the root was never touched.
I’ve heard it said, “You could choose to feel the pain of change or the pain of staying the same.” Both hurt. But choosing change will bring about lasting fruit and results. I’m learning that when the call to change and order is sounded, it must be answered and applied at root level. If not, the results are not just fleeting but also minimal.
Anxious to read your thoughts,
Pastor Manny
ouch! going back to dig again……
Just like you said a few days ago. It’s like cleaning a messy room… shoving everything under the bed does not solve the problem. Things may look “better” at first but the mess quickly returns. In order to bring proper order to something the root of the problem must be addressed. Clean the room, putting everything it belongs, and then make the adjustments to avoid such a mess in the first place (the root of the problem). Not addressing issues at the root will just sprout the same issue later on.
Some good stuff sir. Making changes is definitely tough, but it has to be done. I guess half the time things don’t really change if we don’t take it from the root. If we only do it on the surface, then it will come back. I completely agree. How do you know if you attack it from the root?
There are times that I have had started from the bottom all over again in order to get the lasting results. Change is painful but it is good, escpecially when the results are so rewarding. Good changes are coming and we are doing are part by allowing God to be God.
To succeed you must have to take the will and courage to get there. Start from scratch and build your way up.
Well I think when you change something it suppose to work better and give you better results. when something doesn’t work we change it for a better one because we need to keep ourselves strong with the lord.
I think that when we want to change it can only happen when you put all your strength, concentration, and will power. And finally you have to check yourselves daily so that you don’t go back to where you were before. I think it hurt because you got to go against your own self and soy to it change or you will be hurting by been in the same place.
So true! Many times we think we are making a big change just by modifying the external when we forget about how important is to go all the way to the root. I think that the pain of making a root change is worth more than the pain of a superficial one since a superficial change will only cause us to go through the process once again.
There are times that where there had to be changes made in my life, but to prevent feeling pain I would part of the change. To completely pay the price for change was something that I was completely afraid to do, but now I have come to embrace it. It is very painful but it is a price that’s worth paying. I pray that as this season takes place in my life that the root levels of my life get changed.
“I’ve come to realize that the conviction I’ve received from the Lord, when asked to make changes, only prompted me to make minor cosmetic changes. Unfortunately, the root was never touched.” This statement sums up the call to order’s purpose. Oder must start deep within us all. It must lay a foundation for God to build on. The Holy Spirit recently reprimanded me by saying, “Johnny you have a form of godliness but yet deny His power.” Ouch! We must allow His changing power past the surface as we continue to become sons of God.
Like you said sometimes in order to get the results and fruit that we’re looking for, small changes just aren’t good enough. Sometimes we need to completely change something from the roots up.
I agree Pastor, if changes aren’t made from the root then ultimately whatever is produced as a result of change won’t be lasting or half as impacting as it could have been if done correctly in the beginning. These changes that i’ve been challenged to make in order to bring order to my life have not been easy, but taking the easy and less painful route is what brought me to disorder in the first place.
As a church, and as individuals, we need these “root level” changes in order to become highly impacting and to see lasting fruit in the region to which God has called us, and to the world.
I have learnt that the process in our lives are going to be hard but we have to stop fighting against the process and go with it, that definitely makes it easier. Great blog Pastor.
That’s like almost starting new. That root level can also be reflected in each of us as well. Good blog Pastor.
I once heard someone say the heart of the problem is the problem of the heart. It hurts when we have to look deep within and find the problems that we have did a good job in hiding. In the long run it is worth it.
I noticed that many times the only thing I need to do is to be careful with where I am letting my roots draw nutrients from…
Redigging, uprooting & replanting sounds like a lot of work but if it’s necessary for a greater harvest, then so let it be. In the words of Pastor Manny ” Dooooo Ittttttt”.
Great blog Pastor, goes very well with the blog on ‘Order vs Disorder’, it’s like the icing on the cake. Now I have to go eat it and digest it. Thanks for the cake Pastor, now Lord, bless it to my body (my heart that is) and my body to your service in Jesus name.
Order is definitely has been coming and is still working in me, but I’m choosing to experience pain from change – if I’m going to experience it I rather change to take place than to stay the same – Many times I’ve gone the other way because the pain doesn’t come right away but the pain of staying the same hits later on and it becomes worse.
Since we all long to see lasting fruit and results, I guess we have to embrace the root level changes.
I think we could tend to do that because it’s like “changing” under our own terms …but in the end we are just lying to ourselves. I thank God for what He’s doing in you because like you’ve said before if you truly embrace this order then we’ll be able to do so as well!! Very excited!!!! 🙂
Yes, so many times we address the symptom of the problem and not the root and if we do this, the situation is bound to re-occur….we must dig out the bad roots and replant in order to have lasting change! Tough though, BUT “I can do all things through Christ who gives me the strength”.
If roots are malnourished, the tree cannot bare fruit. Making changes from root level is tough but it’s something that has to be done. If we continue to feed our spirit, there will be fruit.
I like this blog because it talks about if we want to change our lives we have to start at root level so that it can grow to be a giant tree some day and all of that work will pay off.
I’ve been a bit sporadic in my responses to our blogs also, and for this righteous conviction has set in. However, with respect to engaging in actions that will bring about lasting fruit; I must be mindful/ cautious to maintain the basic fundamentals of Christian living.
In all that we do, we must adhere to the basic Christian principle of expressing our love walk for Christ, to others as Ist Corinthian 13 states. If not, as you said Pastor, all that we work towards doing for Christ, ‘without love, will profit us nothing.’
Very good blog full of insightful truths. Lets go deeper.
